Hello, World
Why I started this blog, what I plan to write about, and the principles behind how it's built.
TL;DR: I'm launching a place to share what I build and learn — engineering notes, practical guides, and honest write-ups of side projects. The site itself is a fully static Next.js build, costs $0 to run, and is optimized for both Google and AI search engines.
Hi, I'm Oliver. This is my corner of the internet.
For a while my notes lived in scattered places: half-finished drafts in one app, code snippets in another, and anything worth sharing stuffed into 280 characters. This blog is an attempt to fix that — to write things down properly, in public, where they might actually be useful to someone else.
What to expect
I'm a software engineer who spends most days in TypeScript and the browser, so that's mostly what I'll write about:
- Build logs — how side projects actually got made, including the boring parts and the mistakes.
- Practical guides — things like shipping a static site that ranks well, or wiring up structured data without losing your mind.
- Opinions, softly held — on developer tooling, web performance, and why so many blogs look the same.
Why this site is the way it is
A few principles shaped the build:
- No server, no bill. Every page is pre-rendered HTML on a free CDN. It loads fast everywhere, and it costs nothing to run.
- Findable by humans and machines. Clean URLs, RSS, sitemap, structured data, and a plain-markdown
llms.txtso AI assistants can read the site too. - Writing in files, not forms. Posts are Markdown files in a git repo. That means version history, offline writing, and no lock-in.
If you're curious how the pieces fit together, I wrote about the full stack behind this site in a separate post.
Say hi
The best way to reach me is by email — or just follow along on X or through the RSS feed. Either way, thanks for reading the first post. There's more on the way.
